Football at Warrington

The club plays host to several local football teams that play on Saturdays or Sundays during the season. The outfield areas allow us to have 3 quality pitches. The clubs playing here are:

 

Sankey Vale FC

Sankey Vale FC play in the Warrington and District Football League. There are two teams playing at Warrington Sports Club; the Firsts and the Reserves. The First team are in the Premier Division and Reserves are in Division 1.

 

 

Essemay Over 45's FC

Essemay Over 45's developed from the former Essemay FC teams from South Liverpool which folded in 2012. Initially the Vets and now the Over 45's, the team has gone from strength to strength. The club is now predominately made up of lads from Great Sankey with many of the originals from South Liverpool still involved. Essemay Over 45's play friendly games, generally against teams from Liverpool, Wirral and surrounding areas. They also take part in the 'Friendship Masters Cup' - a 16-team competition amongst over 45s teams.

 

FC Sankey

FC Sankey play in the Warrington Sunday Football League. Only formed in 2019, they have had spectacular success winning the treble last season of Premier Division, Premier Cup and the Denis Scholes Trophy. This year they entered the FA Sunday Cup, a national knockout competition for Sunday League football clubs. The FA Sunday Cup is in its 58-year history and FC Sankey is the first team from Warrington to enter the competition (Photos courtesy of 617 Photography).

  

 

Stockton Heath Albion Vets FC

Stockton Heath Albion Vets play in the Cheshire Veterans Football League. 

 

 

Appleton AFC

Appleton AFC is a community orientated football club based in south Warrington, having been established by parents in the season of 1973-74 for local children.  There are several teams spanning 13 age groups from under 7s to under 18s, plus a training academy for the U7s and below.  Girls can play in any team up to and including U14's. However, in addition, there are numerous girls’ teams.
